A typical gig in that we were besieged by technical problems and poor attendance. An atypical gig in that we opened for GWAR. This juxtaposition of musical styles and wardrobe philosophies was not planned. GWAR just happened to be passing through town and came upon, obviously, some sort of rehearsal hall called Club Oasis. So, they asked to close the PUGSLIES show. Greg announced them as "G-wahr".
Below is the set list performed by the PUGSLIES that night. As I look at the original hand-written list here next to my keyboard, I see the date 09/27/89 in the corner of the page. I'm sure this indicates the day the songs were decided upon. However, this is obviously incorrect as our only PUGSLIES gig was on October 14, 1988. The list was written by Mary Galan as dictated by the band members.
Man, did we do enough friggin' R.E.M. covers! I also see songs by INXS, Zappa, the Beatles, Dead Kennedys, Dead Milkmen, Smithereens, Cult, and Morrissey. Oh, and a couple of originals, too. Here's the list exactly as written:
